What Is Chiropractic

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is the nation's third largest primary healthcare profession, surpassed in numbers only by practitioners of medicine and dentistry. It is the largest, most regulated, and highest recognized of the complementary and alternative professions.

Chiropractic is a medication-free, non-surgical, natural, and concervative approach to healthcare concerned primarily with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the effects of these disorders on the nervous system and general health.

Chiropractors not only treat soft and hard tissue problems such as muscle tightness and back pain, but are largely called on to deal with more significant issues. Some of these issues include fibromyalgia, headaches, insomnia and many more. A doctor of chiropractic may detect joint dysfunction through standard examination procedures, specific chiropractic assessments or special tests. (Peterson & Bergmann 2002)
